Chai Hu (Radix Bupleuri) CO2 Extracted

from $21.00

CO2 extracted Radix Bupleuri
(Bupleurum Root, Chinese Thorowax Root, Hare's Ear Root)

Fine quality, authentic Chai Hu (Bupleurum) essential oil has gotten harder to find and the raw plant material has dramatically gone up in price. The Chai Hu CO2 extracted oil that we have now is recommended for its medicinal value because It is highly concentrated and potent. It also has a very thick consistency which makes it difficult to pour or measure in drops without heating. In order to make it more user friendly and less expensive while still maintaining its potency, I’ve decided to dilute it with medicinally appropriate carrier oils. An essential oil this concentrated would normally be diluted prior to use anyway. In this case I have chosen two different carrier oils for their therapeutic attributes that will match and enhance the medicinal actions of Chai Hu.

Now, when you order Chai Hu CO2 essential oil you have two choices:

1) Chai Hu diluted with cold pressed Bai Zi Ren (Biota Seed) carrier oil to calm the spirit and harmonize the emotions by nourishing Liver and Heart blood. This combination helps to deal with anxiety, menstrual irregularities, PMS, irritability, insomnia, agitation, and other mental, mood or emotional related issues.

2) Chai Hu diluted in cold pressed Black Cumin seed carrier oil to regulate the Liver Qi, benefit the liver organ, and harmonize the Liver and Stomach. This combination helps to deal with digestive upset, ease diaphragmatic and abdominal discomfort, or menstrual pain and irregularity, especially when due to emotional causes such as anger, frustration and pent up emotion.

These are 25% dilutions (equivalent to 250 drops of essential oil in one ounce of carrier oil). Because of the dense potency and intense aroma of this essential oil I feel that these strong dilutions can be used as if they are 100% essential oil which means that there is room for further diluting and blending with other essential oils.

Our CO2 extracted Chai Hu has similar medicinal properties to the steam distilled essential oil, but with its own very distinctive personality.  It is thick, opaque, dark colored, fast acting and super potent. The aromas of the two Chai Hu are very different with the CO2 being densely woody with a spice undertone. Its effect is deeply relaxing and soothing to the Liver's Qi as well as regenerating for the liver organ. Their chemical compositions are similar with the difference being mainly in the percentages of components.
