CHUAN XIN LIAN  穿心蓮
“Penetrate/Thread Through the Heart Lotus”

Our Chuan Xin Lian essential oil has an opaque dark green-brown color. Its aroma is a strong and sharp, herbaceous, musty earth which follows the breath from the chest downward penetrating into the digestive tract.

Andrographis effectively clears heat and toxins both externally and internally. In recent times it has become one of the most used herbal substances to eliminate toxins of various kinds, especially popular for treating viral or bacterial infections manifesting with sore throat, fever, headache and cough.

Used topically its affinity for the Lung and Metal element address skin problems such as eczema or skin sores, even snake bites especially where heat and dampness are a factor.

Chuan Xin Lian is often paired with Jin Yin Hua (Flos Lonicera) and Ju Hua (Flos Chrysanthemi) for treating a wide range of infections or skin problems. Specifically for coughs due to Lung infections, Chuan Xin Lian may be combined with Yu Xing Cao (Herba Houttuynia) essential oil. These combinations of essential oils may be blended and diluted in a carrier oil such as Almond and applied topically on affected areas of the body and on acupuncture points.

The chemical composition of Andrographis paniculata essential oil is rich in bioactive compounds, particularly diterpenoids and flavonoids, along with other phytochemicals that contribute to its powerful anti microbial and other medicinal properties including hepatoprotective. Research shows the main active ingredient is andrographolide, a diterpenoid which has been shown to offer many pharmacological effects such as anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, antibacterial, anti-cancer.

Studies report that Andrographis is also indicated for parasitic infections, particularly Ascaris lumbracoides (large roundworm) and for dysentary. It is also an herb that is used against bacterial hepatitis, and E.Coli.
