Originating from the fertile lands of the Nile River Valley in Egypt, Carthamus migrated to China and other parts of Asia. The vibrant blossoms are picked from the plant in the summer, after the petals turn bright red to be used as medicine. signaling its affinity to the blood, heart and Fire Element to be used as medicine.
