Huo Xiang (Pogostemonis Herba)

from $15.00

Steam distilled Pogostemonis Herba (Patchouli)- 5ml

The aroma of our Huo Xiang essential oil is strong, woody, musky and spicy. It’s effect is quickly felt opening in the mouth, moving down the esophagus and spreading in the stomach, awakening the appetite. At the same time it brings on a lightness and clarity to thought and emotion.

This true Patchouli essential oil is distilled from the dried, fermented leaves of Guang Huo Xiang also known as Nan (southern) Huo Xiang. The traditional process of fermentation prior to distillation imbues its essential oil with the power of alchemical transformation and explains its actions of aromatically transforming dampness and gloom, effectively transforming “stuck” emotions, and stubborn patterns.

Huo Xiang Harmonizes digestion and expels the dampness associated with poor digestion or exterior, environmental factors. It helps to resolve nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fullness, lethargy, discomfort, digestive flu as well as water retention.

Huo Xiang essential oil has the attribute of opening the Chong Mai, one of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians, also called the Penetrating vessel or the Sea of the Twelve Meridians and the Sea of Blood.

Like Lavender, prepared as an ointment or a wash, Huo Xiang is healing for burns.

Rubbed vigorously into the skin, it opens the pores and promotes sweating.

May be applied topically to break up cellulite.

Diffuse Huo Xiang into the air as a fumigant and to prevent spread of infection.

Practitioners may consider combining Huo Xiang and Zi Su Ye (Perilla leaf) essential oils in blends for nausea and vomiting in the case of morning sickness or exterior syndromes that affect the stomach. Add Gan Jiang (Ginger) if there is cold.

Patchouli essential oil has anti-inflammatory, and anti fungal properties. It has been shown to be helpful for vascular congestion as in the case of hemorrhoids and varicose veins.
