Jing Jie (Schizonepetae Herba)

from $18.00

Steam distilled Schizonepetae Herba

Our Jing Jie essential oil is steam distilled at a small, old fashioned, family run distillery in the countryside near Ji'An China where Jing Jie grows close to streams. This accounts for it's particularly fresh and powerful aroma. It's distinct, peppery, herbaceous, green earth fragrance opens the nose, raises the skin hair, homes to the chest and quickens the heart. The old name for Herba schizonepetae was Jiang Jie, meaning ginger mustard, because of it's very pungent nature. In fact, this plant belongs to the mint family.

With its affinity to both Lung and Liver, Jing Jie affects both Wei and Ying levels making it's essential oil an excellent choice as an application for venting wind from the exterior as well as from the blood. It may be applied topically, diluted in a carrier oil, for rashes and itching, beginning stage measles, pruritic itchy skin eruptions, carbuncles, or furuncles and abscesses (Contraindicated in cases of fully erupted measles or open sores).

Combine with Dang Gui and Chuan Xiong Oils for itching due to blood deficiency.

Jing Jie essential oil relaxes the sinews. Topical application relieves muscle spasms caused by wind. For this purpose combine it with Bai Zhi (Angelica Dahurica) and Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum) essential oils. In the Lungs, Jing Jie relieves bronchospasm to treat wheezing and dyspnea combined with Song Zhen (White Pine), Bai Zhi (Angelica dahurica) and Zi Su Zi (Perilla seed).

It can be applied to help clear lymphatic swelling and turbid yin fluids.
