PU GONG YING  蒲公英

Our CO2 extracted Pu Gong Ying essential oil has a strong and sharp, musty herbaceous aroma with a sweet, dense undertone. Its color is an opaque, dark green-brown. Upon inhalation the aroma descends sharply through the throat and deeply penetrates into the chest, where it feels to be stirring up the Qi and breaking up stagnation. 

Pu Gong Ying’s main therapeutic action is to eliminate toxins and clear heat both on the surface and the interior of the body. It is well known as an herb to treat the breast, specifically to break up breast lumps and accesses. It is used for intestinal and lung accesses as well.

In dermatology, Herba Taraxaci  may be applied topically for sores, lesions and ulcerations of the skin. For hot skin lesions such as fire toxins, or rashes such as exzema, Pu Gong Ying essential oil is enhanced by combining with oils of Jin Yin Hua (Lonicera), Ye Ju Hua (Chrysamthemi) and Zi Hua Di Ding (Viola) with a small percentage of Bo He (Peppermint) or Qing Pi (Tangerine peel) as a top note.

For breast lumps or abccesses, Pu Gong Ying may be combined with essential oils of E Zhu (Curcuma zedoaria), Ru Xiang (Frankincense) and Qing Pi (Green Tangerine Peel) as a compress or poultice in Castor or Calophyllum (Tamanu) oil as a base. 

In case of lung abscess, practitioners may consider a compress or poultice combining essential oil of Pu Gong Ying with Yu Xing Cao (Houttuinia). 

Among its major chemical components, Dandelion and its essential oil contain a bitter compound, taraxacerin, that increases the level of bile secreted by the gallbladder, helping the liver to detoxify more efficiently. It is also diuretic, aiding the liver and kidneys to flush away excess water and waste, supporting the body as it eliminates harmful toxins.
