CO2 extracted Yu Lan Magnolia Flower - Magnoliae denudata Flos

The aroma of this CO2 extracted Xin Yi Hua essential oil is herbaceous, sweet and spicy. Upon inhalation it penetrates into the sinuses cuts through dampness, clears the pathways in the head and frees the breathing passages.

Xin Yi Hua essential oil opens the senses and the mind when they have been blocked by the effects of wind, dampness, obsession, depression or confusion.

In Chinese herbal medicine, Xin Yi Hua is famous for its ability to open blocked nasal passages and is a major ingredient in formulas for sinus congestion, pressure headaches and allergic rhinitis. The part of the plant used traditionally, for medicinal purposes, is the flower bud before it blooms.

It has a special affinity with the Lung whose channel opens to the nose. It also goes to the Stomach where it helps to facilitate the rising of the pure yang through the Stomach channel as it travels upward to the benefit the sensory orifices and the brain.

To strengthen Magnolia Flower essential oil’s effect of clearing the nasal passages, practitioners may blend it with the essential oils of Xi Xin (Asarum) if there is cold or Bo He (Peppermint) if there is heat, and An Shu Ye (Eucalyptus) for more congestion. These can be diffused into the air and placed on acupuncture points.

When emotion is a factor, combining both Xin Yi Hua and Bai Yu Lan Ye (the flower and leaf of Magnolia ) will enhance its aromatic effect on the spirit.
