This extraordinarily aromatic oil is double extracted by a special process to bring out its potent, complex cedar-like scent, reminiscent of traditional old cedar wood chests.

It can be used to create a wonderfully masculine cologne or after shave and as a sachet placed in a drawer or closet it provides a pleasant, woody aroma while repelling moths and molds. A little goes a long way and like true base note oils, the aroma lasts a long time.

This unique oil is extracted from the wood of the Sichuan Arborvitæ, meaning “Tree of Life.” Its effect is calming, easing body and mind, warming, cleansing and healing.

Medicinally, its chemical composition provides a wide array of analgesic, anti-anxiety, antibacterial, antidepressant, antifungal, antiseptic, astringent, anti-rheumatic, antiviral, circulatory stimulant, diuretic, emmenagogue, mucalytic, and expectorant properties. Applied topically, it may be used to relieve pain of the sinews, bones and joints, as well as to address skin eruptions such as warts, moles, skin tags, abnormal cellular growths, some forms of skin cancers, and polyps. It breaks up mucus and phlegm. Diffused into the air it benefits respiration, coughs and congestion. It is an effective, disinfectant and insect repellant.

The scent profile is largely associated with sesquiterpenes and sesquiterpene alcohols, especially:

• Thujopsene – woody, dry, cedar-like

• Cedrol – deep cedarwood note, pencil-shavings, slightly sweet

• Longifolene – resinous, woody

• β-Caryophyllene – spicy-woody

• α-Pinene – fresh conifer, pine-like
